Regulation in carbon-footprint accounting

Recent studies call for regulation in carbon-footprint disclosure requirements, as it is found that less-carbon intensive sectors are relying on gaining symbolic legitimacy through disclosure, yet without taking the necessary substantive actions. Carbon-footprint disclosures of the more carbon intensive sectors are increasing, yet more incentives are needed to ensure continuous efforts to reduce carbon footprints.
